Linocut
In the class Linocut, you can immerse yourself in linoleum printing from initial sketch to finished artwork. You will work with techniques in both simple, clear motifs and more complex, layered images. The course offers space for experimentation, time for reflection, and opportunities for meaningful conversations as you develop your own graphic expressions.
You will learn about both relief printing and intaglio techniques, use different cutting tools, composing of a strong image, and how to choose the right paper, tools, and ink for your linoleum prints. If you wish, you can also try puzzle techniques and reduction printing, where multiple colours and layers open up new creative possibilities.
We draw inspiration from artists such as Dea Trier Mørch, Olivia Holm-Møller, Palle Nielsen, Dan Sterup-Hansen, and Vera Myhre—all masters at using linoleum cuts to depict contemporary life, times of crisis, and the small moments of everyday life. At the same time, we reflect on our own time and explore how art can help document and interpret life’s ups and downs.
