Water beneath the hull, wind in your hair, and laughter on the fjord.

In Kayak, Canoe and Play at Vestjyllands Højskole, we spend our time on the water – and sometimes in it. 

Using the beautiful West Jutland landscape as our playground, we explore Ringkøbing Fjord, as well as nearby lakes and rivers, from both kayaks and canoes.

Together, we learn how to read the wind, the weather, and the water. We challenge our balance, meet the waves, and experience the forces of nature firsthand. Along the way, we build skills, confidence, and a healthy respect for life on the water.

You do not need any previous experience with kayaking or canoeing. We focus on the fundamental techniques, ensuring that everyone can take part, regardless of experience. An important goal of the course is for you to feel safe, confident, and comfortable on the water, both on your own and as part of a group.

Kayak, Canoe and Play is about much more than technique. It is also about play, community, and shared experiences. It is about the feeling of gliding silently across the water, battling the wind a little, falling in with a laugh, and climbing back up again.

When the cold starts creeping beneath the wetsuit, it is time for a warm drink and good conversation. We talk about nature, safety, hypothermia, and our responsibility when moving through the natural environment.
