Bushcraft
Bushcraft – also known as survival – is about using the skills and experience you have to survive and thrive in nature.
In the Bushcraft course at Vestjyllands Højskole, we immerse ourselves in hands-on craft and the simple life outdoors. The course is grounded in theory about outdoor crafts, and you’ll have the opportunity to develop practical carving skills.
In the course, we focus on:
Tools, wood types, and craft techniques
Working with your hands and learning processes in outdoor life
Making what you need from natural materials using simple tools
Fire building and lighting a fire – so you can keep warm and cook food
Bushcraft (survival) is a love of nature and gives you the desire to be outdoors and experience everything nature has to offer. At the same time, bushcraft teaches you to slow down and focus on the small but important things in life. What do I and we need, and what matters most to me and the group? Is it important to have lots of things in life, or can I get by with food, water, warmth, shelter, and companionship?
The Bushcraft course teaches you to put things into perspective, adapt to the situation you’re in, and solve it in the best possible way—together with others.
